Sambhar | Huli | Saaru

Sambhar | Huli  | Saaru is part of a tradition of lentil-based vegetable stews in southern India. Its made with Dal and some vegetables. Mostly Spilt Tur Dal is used but some of them also used Masoor Daal. 

You can make this sambhar in varieties but this is the simplest form of making dal stew. It tastes delicious. In this Process tur dal tempering with the onion, tomatoes, Bringle, potatoes and drum sticks as well. you can make vegetable sambhar by adding french beans, carrots, broccoli etc.

Sambhar | Huli  | Saaru is most commonly served with Dosa, rice, Idli, Allo vada and Mendu Vada. For the trial and error, I have tried many sambhar masala but I like keralian and MTR sambhar masala which is taste so well. Try out another south Indian recipes here.






Ingridents:

3/4 cup split pigeon pea/Tur dal
2.5 glass water for cooking Dal
1 piece chopped  Bringle
1 piece chopped potato
4 tbsp oil
1 chopped onion
2 chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp keralian sambhar masala
2 tsp chilli powder
pinch of hing
salt to taste
1 tsp coriander powder
1/4 turmeric powder
1 chopped green chilly
3 tsp tamarind juice


Methods:

1. Take a pressure cooker, Add spilt pigeon peas, Bringle and potato in it.

2. Add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 turmeric powder closed the lid and cook it on medium flame for 3-4 whistle or till it mushy. 

3. Now take deep pan heat some oil add a pinch of Hing. Now add chopped onion and saute till it becomes transparent.

4. Now add chopped green chilly and mix well. Now add all above dry masala dry masala and then add tomatoes cook it till it becomes mushy.

5. Now add cooked dal in this Temparing, add 1 glass of water and tamarind juice and boil the sambhar for desire consistency. It becomes thick when cool down.

Now enjoy this sambhar with Aloo vada, Mendu Vada, Dosa and Idli. This Sambhar is enough for the 2 Adults.
